Notes:  Damant’s party of 1820 settlers.  He was a surgeon.  DN 3181.1/2/1855.  His son, William Guybon Atherstone, was also a surgeon and in 1847 was the first to use an anesthetic in a surgical operation.  In 1867 he identified the first diamond discovered in South Africa.  His children by his first wife, Elizabeth, were:

Notes:  Edward Amos or Amis, incorrectly listed as Henry, had a wife Elizabeth (formerly Woest or Taylor) and family who sailed with the Meneze’s party of 1820 settlers.  Edward was a sailor and went missing for some years, and Elizabeth took a second husband, Richard Bowls.
